Job Summary

The Consultant will be responsible for providing programme management support in the day-to-day operation of global health and development client accounts. The Consultant will assist on client accounts with research on regulatory and policy matters, develop presentations and briefings for clients, and support clients in the management of specific projects, campaigns, and their stakeholder engagement portfolio within Germany. The incumbent will work with Sovereign Strategy’s senior leadership and administrative colleagues to ensure the effective execution of the logistical, administrative and strategic policy, campaigning & communications aspects of client accounts. The role may require occasional travel between Germany and London upon agreement with the Consultant.

About the Role

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the management of specific client accounts with guidance from Senior Management. 
  • Provide timely and relevant regulatory and policy advice to clients with regular policy updates on regulations and political developments in Germany with a specific focus on global, national health and development policies. 
  • Provide regular analysis and briefing documents to clients to guide the client’s positioning on relevant topics. 
  • Prepare background and analytical concept notes aligned with engagement plans and objectives. 
  • Work with a Project Manager/London colleague for the execution of tasks. 
  • Support Senior Management in developing and executing targeted policy campaigns for clients.
  • Develop integrated PR and Communication strategies to guide the execution of the client objectives. 
  • Support the client’s objectives ranging from positioning, project planning, profile raising, campaigning and strategic resource mobilisation. 
  • Identify partnerships aligned with the client’s mission and vision.
  • Support and manage the organisation of events and roundtables for the clients. 
  • Assist clients in meetings and activities that require delegation visits/travel within Germany. 

The successful applicants should

  • Have studied to a graduate level in Global/Public Health, Politics, Public policy, Public health, International Relations, Development Studies or a related field. 
  • Have +7 years of professional experience in policy, public affairs, government relations, interest groups, start-ups or NGO’s working in the field of global health, health-tech and development. 
  • Have excellent spoken and written English and be proficient in German. 
  • Be proficient in using and managing virtual conferencing systems, Mirosoft office applications, and social media tools. 
  • Have the ability to deliver against strategic objectives and provide proactive advice on client’s positioning based on policy developments and identify engagement opportunities that contribute to clients short and long term objectives. 
  • Be proficient in building and maintaining networks that are relevant to Sovereign’s client base. 
  • Have experience of organisaing, assisting or managing events and meetings for clients. 
  • Have excellent communication skills with stakeholders of all levels.
  • Have the ability to work constructively in a team with an eagerness to grow and an ability to work on multiple projects and deliver work within tight deadlines. 
  • Have the ability to manage client relations, track progress, and communicate with management. 

Annual Salary: Daily Rate for a Consultant £250-450 GBP (depending on experience in the sector and political experience) 

Job Type: 8-16 hrs a week 

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Start Day: immediately
