The City of London Corporation is the governing body of the Square Mile dedicated to a vibrant and thriving City, supporting a diverse and sustainable London within a globally-successful UK.

Along with the other 32 London boroughs, The City of London forms part of the wider Greater London area and has historically been a centre for settlement, trade, commerce and ceremony as far back as the Roman period. Today the City of London is home to the internationally renowned financial district of London.

Based in Guildhall the City Corporation looks after and promotes the City of London and is headed by the Lord Mayor with the Court of Common Council being its main decision-making body. The City of London is the oldest continuous municipal democracy, pre-dating Parliament and maintains its own independent police force.
